Background, headroom, and buffer
- Background: min(totalDevices × 0.25, 20) Mbps down and min(totalDevices × 0.05, 5) Mbps up.
- Profile headroom: Basic ×1.2, Balanced ×1.35, Heavy ×1.5 applied to the activity + background totals.
- Peak-user buffer: max(0, peakUsers − 1) × 3 Mbps added to download only after headroom.
Estimator bands (not Starlink products)
We classify estimated download demand into qualitative bands — Light (≤40), Typical (≤100), Heavy (≤200), Very heavy (>200) Mbps. These are estimator labels only. They are not Starlink plan names, SKUs, or advertised tiers.
